Emergency Preparedness Checklists

Several of my readers have requested some forms and/or emergency preparedness checklists to help guide them through the steps to plan and implement their family survival plans, kits, and food storage.

Our goal is to provide fill-in-the-blank forms to make your planning and assembling your food storage, emergency kits, etc. as easy and organized as possible.

Here are some of the checklists that are available to you. As more checklists are added, you will be notified and have access from the link sent to you in the Family Survival Planning Alert.

  •  Family Emergency Contacts (PDF format)
  •  Family Emergency Contacts (Excel format - zipped)

Gather your family together to fill in this form so that everyone knows who to call, where to call, and where to meet in case of an emergency. This form is preformatted so you can just fill in the blanks. The PDF version will need to be printed and the important phone numbers and other necessary information written in for easy referral. The Excel format can be filled out on your computer and then printed.

  •  FEMA Emergency Preparedness Checklist (PDF format)
This is great information produced by FEMA. It overlaps some other checklists but is an overall list of what to do in case of emergencies. It has a list of disaster supplies (like the 72-hour kit); a list of things you need to find out about your community emergency preparedness; how to prepare an escape plan for your home with a page to draw your floor plan; a list for a car emergency kit; how to hazard check your home; and a list of fire safety items.
  •  Planning & Inventory Chart (PDF format)

This form will help you assess what supplies you have, what you need, and what you plan to acquire to meet your survival supplies goals.

  • Emergency Checklist for Your Home (PDF format)

This is an extensive list of items to secure everything in and around your home, with talking points for your neighbors, family, and out-of-state contacts.

  • Water Storage & Purification Checklist (PDF format)

What is a gravity filter and how does it work? What is the best way to purify water? What are some easy-to-carry water containers? How many water pouches are needed for my family? Sign up for our Alert to find answers to these questions in these checklists.

  • 72-Hour Emergency Pack Checklist

What kinds of foods are best to put in a 72-hour kit? What should go into it besides food? Should the items be rotated?

I know that we all plan in different ways. Some can just make their own lists and get it done. Others like prepared checklists where you can just fill in the blanks or check off items as you acquire them or pack them in your kits.

The goal either way is to complete your family survival plans and assemble all the supplies needed for your families.

So if these checklists work for you, I am happy to provide them. I know they have worked for me. I'm constantly adding to my supplies and having these emergency preparedness checklists handy in my emergency planner has made the process more organized. It is satisfying to me to be able to check off an item, knowing that I am just a bit more prepared for any crisis.

Please feel free to contact me if there is any type of form or checklist that you are especially interested in. Also, feel free to submit your suggestions, helpful hints, ideas or thoughts on our Questions & Answers page or Food Storage Questions page. I am always delighted to hear from my readers!
