I would like to include Milo Grain and Amaranth into my long term storage. By packaging in sealer bags with a oxygen absorber, then sealed in Mylar bag inside a 5 gallon bucket, how long will they store for?
Thank you for your help.
I'm not certain exactly how long they will store but I know they will not store as long as hard red wheat (30 years).
From what I've read, Amaranth can be stored for up to a year if kept in an airtight container in a cool, dark, dry location.
Milo grain (Sorghum)should be stored in tightly sealed plastic or glass containers in a cool, dry, dark cabinet.
Shelf life of Sorghum: several months if properly stored.
So I would say that your method of storing will work just fine for Amaranth, but maybe not for Milo grain.
